Blessed Sugar Cookies

Soft, sweet, and prayed over — my most-requested recipe. People tend to eat these like potato chips, one after another!

Oven375°F
Bake Time7–8 min
Yields~2 dozen

Ingredients

  • 2¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Butter (softened, not melted — salted butter preferred)
  • White sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Have a non-stick cookie sheet ready.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. Soften the butter just until soft, not melted (a few seconds in the microwave works, if needed).
  4. In another bowl, mix the softened butter, sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Slowly add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, mixing until fully combined.
  6. Once mixed, stop and pray.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto the cookie sheet, three per row.
  8. Bake for 7–8 minutes, or until slightly golden on top.
  9. Remove from the cookie sheet and lightly dust with white sugar while warm.
  10. Serve warm.
Bamma's tip: Don't skip the salt — it's what gives these their little kick. And always taste-test your butter before you start... you'll thank me later. 😉
