Do You Remember the Sugar Cookies?

Hello Sweetie!

I started making cookies on my own when I was 8 years old. The first cookies I made were Chocolate Chip Cookies. Nana taught me how to make them. I sure felt special doing it by myself.

Years later, I was playing in the kitchen. I found this extract that was butter and nut extract. It sure made some fantastic cookies mixed with vanilla extract! I can't find that anymore so I had to improvise once again.

There are delicious cookies everywhere but something I noticed about these Blessed Sugar Cookies, people tend to eat them like potato chips — one after another!

Yeah, I said Blessed. See, I believe that is what makes them so good. We pray over these cookies and Sugar, you need to be praying over your food anyways.

Why?

Because the Lord blesses the food.

We pray:

Dear Lord,

We ask You bless this cookie dough, and bless those Lord with nothing to eat.

In Jesus Name,

Amen.

Everyone tends to take a bite of the cookie dough after that.

Something that I have noticed through the years of making cookies: Some ingredients are better than others and if you leave one ingredient out, well, you got a mess of a cookie.

If you leave out the salt, for example, well… they just are quite bland. The salt gives them that little kick they need.

And wooooooo, real butter, ah, yeah!!! REAL butter. I also use salted butter. I remember one time not paying attention and got unsalted butter. Well, I like to take a little bite of butter when I am making the cookies. I went to chomp down on that butter expecting a little taste of salt with the creaminess of butter and was met with EWWWWWW!

Have you ever done that? Gross, isn't it? Gotta prepare yourself for those moments.

Days when I'm feeling rich and fancy, well, I just go ahead and buy the best ingredients and make these gourmet. LOL!!! I'm kidding. I dream. Okay, let Bamma have it, alright?

No I go to the Dollar General and get my ingredients.

One thing I do though that is fancy, I make my own brown sugar with white sugar and molasses. How do you do that? Mmmmmkkkk. That is by looks. I don't know. I just pour some white sugar in a bowl. Start pouring molasses just lightly until that seems like the right amount. I take a fork and work that molasses into the white sugar and bam! Excellent brown sugar and fresh!

I remember when I was in my 20's. My grandma, we call her Mucker, was making her delicious peach cobbler. I said Grandma write down the recipe for me so I always have it. She told me there was no recipe. What do you mean? How do you know how much of what? She said I just look at it. Now I know what she means.

You know Sweetie, life is a lot like sugar cookies. Sometimes sweet things come along unexpectedly and sometimes something can start out real sweet and you put something in there that messes it all up. You know what I mean?

That's why it's important to pray because if you don't invite Jesus into your mess and ask Him to help you, well, things just ain't ever going to be sweet. Not the way He planned, anyway.

Anyway, here's that recipe I promised you and I hope you love them! I hope they bring you closer to others like they do me.

I love you!
