Do You Ever Wonder If You're Praying Right?

Hey Sweetie,

Do you ever wonder if you are praying right? Or do you even think you don't know how to pray?

I remember when I first started praying. I know as a younger person, I did talk to God. As I got older, when I gave my heart fully to Jesus, I would watch people pray at church and thought to myself: There is no way I am going to be able to pray for 10 minutes by myself.

Fast forward, I talk to the Lord all the time about all sorts of things. There's been lots of changing through the years about what that looks like.

It really hit me yesterday. Myles, my six year old grandson, came into the dining area and asked me what I was doing. I said oh, studying the Bible. You know what? Check this out: Say this with me. He quoted a verse with me. Then I got to thinking, we should pray. I invited him to pray. What he said, may I never forget. A friend from a long time ago came to my mind. I mentioned his name to Myles and said we need to pray for him. Myles had no idea anything about this person. He said: "Lord, he needs to leave the devil and go to Jesus. Amen."

AMEN. Like, what????

So simple. So true. So biblically correct.

So Jesus.

Jesus is not complicated with us. Even when the Apostles asked Him directly: Teach us to pray. He said "When you pray, pray like this:

Our Father who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name
Thy Kingdom come
Thy will be done
On earth as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our sins
As we forgive those that sin against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen."

I noticed that He did not say IF you pray but WHEN.

So, when you pray, Sweetie, just let Him know you love Him, you haven't forgotten who He IS, you are looking to Him to help you get through this life because you can't do it without Him. Say you're sorry when you do Him and other folks wrong. Most of all, Sugar, don't forget to thank Him.

He's seeing us all the way through. I am confident of that.

Love Always, Bamma
